Low-Dose Naltrexone Dilution Directions

What You'll Start With
Your prescription is one capsule containing 2 micrograms (mcg) of naltrexone. You will dissolve this capsule in water and take small measured doses from the solution.
How to Prepare Your Solution
1. Get a clean 1-gallon water jug with a screw-top cap.
2. Open one 2 mcg naltrexone capsule and empty its contents into the jug.
3. Fill the jug with 1 U.S. gallon of water. Distilled water is preferred. Reverse-osmosis (RO) water is acceptable if distilled is not available.
4. Close the cap tightly and shake well to disperse the capsule contents throughout the water.
5. Label the jug with the following information:
• "Naltrexone dilution"
• "2 mcg per gallon"
• The date you prepared it
• "Discard 14 days after preparation"
6. Store the capped jug in your refrigerator, unless your dispensing pharmacy has given you different storage directions.
7. Shake gently before each use.
8. Discard any remaining liquid after 2 weeks (14 days) and prepare a fresh batch.
Your Dose
Take 1 teaspoon (5 mL) by mouth as directed by your provider.
A calibrated oral syringe (available at most pharmacies) is more accurate than a household teaspoon. If you use a syringe, draw up 5 mL for each dose.
What's in Each Dose?
Here is the math behind your dose, so you can see exactly what you're taking:
Bottom line: Each 1-teaspoon (5 mL) dose contains approximately 2.6 nanograms of naltrexone. This is an extremely small, intentional dose.
Precision note: Using the exact U.S. teaspoon volume (4.93 mL) yields approximately 2.60 ng per teaspoon. A practical 5 mL dosing syringe yields 2.64 ng per dose. Either is clinically equivalent.
